Sooooo... this is my final blog post, i want to thank a few people :'( My mother... hi mom, all of the amazing fans out there who have been reading these posts, Justin my teacher for giving us such a fun English assignment, amanda for being a good little girl, Chris for doing an amazing voice-over, Michelle for doing a good moodboard and organization, Tessa for being the support on everything and Jelle for doing a great job on the video montage and delivering the final product.

I've learned a lot this period, for instance, how to act better, working together with people on other things than Art, which is nice by the way, because it gets a lot less intense. I've imroved my AIDA skills, now knowing better than ever to sell something to an audience.
I've been asked tips for improvement, I would say offer a little prize for the best commercial to get the hype train started.

I do still agree with the role I have been given by the Belbin role test, which was 'the plant'.
The plant would be a person who has a lot of creative ideas, but has a hard time keeping the organization together and finds it difficult to deliver. I have been a creative influence in the group, having a good influence on the final product of the commercial, while the organisation was handled by the other folks.

My biggest contribution has been being part of the brainstorm at the beginning and my acting skills which were, as you might have seen, AMAZING 0.o
I have worked a lot together with Amanda, which was a lot of fun, in the first part of the project she had a definite opinion which was nice, and later during the acting stage of the project she took her job seriously.

Anyway, I loved the assignment, it was probably the most fun I had during an English class.
LATER HOMIES!

Final Blogpost Chris

How's it going readers,

For this course of English, we had to make a commercial and learn more about copyright. I personally didn't learn much from making the commercial. I didn't do the video editing, although I do it a lot in my spare time. Where I learned the most from was from all the copyright information we got from the teacher. We got a deeper look in how you can secure your work online.

In the first week, we also had to make a test from which you could transcribe your team role from. Mine was the specialist. I think the role suited me very well in the team. The role stands for a person that get's their job done with pleasure and ease.

My biggest contribution to the team was doing the voice over for the commercial.

The person I'm evaluating is Amanda. She had an important role in the team, as she was one of the actors in the commercial and ran behind everyone's butts if you didn't do your job on time.

I had great fun this period and look forward to new English classes.

Chris.
Hello happy readers
I am very glad to mark the end of this period by posting the last blogpost.

From this course I kind of learned how to use my team role to my advantage, because at first I didnt really know what it meant or how to use it. Though it's also something I'd like to improve on, because now I know that I am a natural leader and people oriented, I wish I could utilize this from now on.

Do I agree with my team role according to the Belbin's role test? Well I do think most of the traits used to describe the roles could be anyone's, but as soon as you test what your role would be it also gives you information about what you could use to your advantage, so yes I do agree with my team role because I'm very bossy and I like to be called leader. haha.

My main contribution to this project would probably be the kicking peoples butt when I felt they needed it, and I was usually right about when they needed it.

I am going to describe my fellow teammate, Chris, who contributed to the team by letting us use his pretty voice for the commercial. Which is copyrighted by the way.
Due to personal issues Chris has been absent a few times, but he did his part and I am happy I got to work with him. He is a funny guy.

Analyse of another group

We choose to analyse the commercial of team Magma. They sell unicorns (wings not included)

Attention - They draw the attention with unicorns (a very popular mythical animal) And because it's                      popular it draws attention.

Interest - The commercial catches your interest because it is presented as a animation, which is not                     very common.

Desire - People want to have it because unicorns are very colorful and sparkly. They give you a                         happy feeling.

Action - The commercial makes you buy an unicorn because it's something everyone wants to have.

We think it's a good commercial.
We got taught how to deliver our message to our target audience. Our target audience is low skilled people, without jobs. The group has decided to take the emotional approach to delivering the message to the audience. The story we've decided to go with includes me being a father to Amanda. I need to buy her something like an ice-cream but I can't, showing I am a bad provider. Then when I go get a job I will be able to buy her an ice-cream and we'll start laughing giving everybody who watches it a little bit of a good feeling.
I'm still excited for this project.
It's Wednesday morning and we just had a lesson, which was supposed to be a guest lesson, but that was not the case.
The group decided to call the group Segers.... which is strange because now everybody is going to think I have a huge ego. It's okay though, because i'm actually kind of excited about the project.
We have also decided to be an employment agency, and I believe we can come up with a very creative commercial. I'm excited to see where this is heading.

Final blog post

I still do agree with my team role. The co-operation with the group was a pleasant experience. The tasks were well distributed. My biggest contribution during the project was making the storyboard and directing the scenes that had to be made during filming.
Everybody did a great job while shooting the commercial!
Niels edited the whole commercial and I think he did an excellent job with that. We made an awful lot of bloopers and he still managed to make it look like a professional commercial.

I mostly liked to go filming and realizing the commercial and I really enjoyed working with this awesome group!

Tessa van Beek

- What did you learn from this course? Do you have any tips for improvement?

Being the recorder I had to look what's the best place, the brightness and all that other stuff. That was a nice thing to learn. I can still improve in the brightness.

- Do you still agree with your team role according to Belbin’s role test?

Yes, I still agree to my team role according to Belbin's role test. I'm a team worker. I was the recorder of the commercial, I tried to communicate the most with the 'actors' and made every shoot worth it.

- What has been your biggest contribution to this project?

Being the recorder, recording the whole commercial into different pieces. Sadly, not all parts were used. But I like the way it turned out.

 - Choose one other group member and describe his/her functioning during the project:

Michelle helped me with the recording, sometimes she gave advice on where to stand and where to shoot.

Analyse your own commercial according to AIDA

Our commercial according to AIDA:

Our commercial is attractive because it shows that it is fairly easy to get a new job and that we will help you with it, and it shows that with a job you can do more things to make people happy.

It is interesting because it tells a story about someone and it might be relevant to someone without a job and that's the kind of person we are targeting.

It is desirable because it makes people want to go to Segers Employment Agencies™.

There is no real action but that's not what is supposed to attract the viewer. The emotional factor is supposed to keep the watcher attracted.

- What did you learn from this course? Do you have any tips for improvement?

I now understand more aspects on how to make a commercial and what things you have to keep in consideration.

- Do you still agree with your team role according to Belbin’s role test?

Yes because I was a specialist which meant I only specialize in one subject and for me that was the video editing part.

- What has been your biggest contribution to this project?

Being the video editor, I had a big contribution into finalizing the project and making it what it is now.

 - Choose one other group member and describe his/her functioning during the project

Chris helped me on the editing part with the voice overs.

We at Segers want everyone to be happy. It’s all a piece of cake”

week 5 MOODBOARDS!+ week 4

HEEEEY GUUUYS :D
so I skipped a week and I know all of you guys missed me to pieces.
I'm back though and very excited to work on the commercial project!
we've been shown a video about Story boarding, a very important part of the production process... dUH..
I'm going to be making my version of the storyboard, so we can look at a few and combine the best aspects. The story is about a dad going out with his little girl but he doesn't have the money to buy her a treat, an icecream. he goes to Segers employment, where he gets a job, girl gets icecream, she laughs, dad laughs, everyone happy.

So, I've also made this test we've been sent a few weeks ago on group roles. I am the plant.
the plant is a person with great creativity and fantasy, but a lot of times I'm not realistic and fail to deliver what is expected of me.
What I need to do is try to cancel out the negative sense of being a plant.

Week 4

I am very happy to announce that our team (as of now our company 'Segers') is on the right track and doing very well. We already have a good planning if you just scroll down for a bit you'll see, I'm not going to copy it since it would only be filling space.
Since our goal is to simulate a company setting and make a commercial for it, we have also divided roles equally so that everyone has some purpose for the coming weeks.

For the commercial we also divided the tasks looking at our own skills, talents and shortcomings.
Me and Jasper are going to be the actors.
I will be the little girl because I'm the shortest, he plays the dad because he is tall and has a beard. We asked him to grow it out a bit for the recording in week 7.
Tessa will be recording the commercial, Michelle is in charge of the clothes and Chris is doing the voice-over and lastly Niels will be editing the commercial.

And finally my role according to the Belbin's team roles.
I am the co-ordinator which fits me, because I am usually the one who summarizes what we have to do and who is going to do what so that everyone has it clear. I know the people I work with and generally know what they are good or bad at. Also I like to be in charge.

My Role (Niels Schippers)

My role

the role I have is specialist it does indeed fit me for I would like to be the editor of the video and fully aim for that. So the role indeed fits me. specialist means that you will be focusing on 1 thing only and be good at that, and I am reasonably good at video-editing.

Week 4

Implementer

My role as an implementer suits me, because I am disciplined, orderly and task-orientated. I am also down to earth when I have to do serious work, but I can also be a dreamer sometimes, hard-working and  a realistic professional. To be fair it's a bit scary to see how perfect the role is for me, even the pitfalls suit me well...

Planning:
Week 5: Create a storyboard of our commercial.
Week 6: Think of a script for the voice over and what the dad/little girl will say to each other (also find some nice music, maybe?)
Week 7: Record the video and edit it. (Edit in H.264/MPEG4 format 1920x1080p)
Week 8: Presentations

I'm a teamworker, meaning I'm the most sensitive member of the team. I'm helpful, accommodating and focused on creating a decent atmosphere while we work. I have trouble making difficult and critical discussions, so I usually let someone else take the decisions and I follow (most of the time! Not always!) it.

I'm (also) the recorder of our group. I'll try to get the most decent shots and make everything perfect the way we want it to happen.

Week 3 Powerpoint lesson

This week our teacher gave a short presentation about how to reach a certain group of people through commercials, advertisement and social media. The presentation he used officially was property of someone he knows, which was originally the person who was going to give the presentation to us, but unfortunately, she couldn't come to the lesson.

We also focused on the concept of our commercial and decided on what audience we wanted to reach.

(source (de Kam) Kam, de J.H. (2014) the process of advertising [PowerPoint slides])
Target audience for the commercial: Unemployed people that want or need a job.

D2G2- 74482

Week 3 Tessa

This week we’ve learned how to target our advertisement(s) to our audience. Our audience is people who are low skilled and (obviously) have no jobs.

Well… Our advertisement idea has already been written down twice… So the third time is the charm? Okay!

Our advertisement is about a little girl wanting to have ice cream, but her dad isn’t able to buy her ice cream because he has no money (unemployed). Segers is going to help her dad find a job while we describe how Segers does this. Later on you’ll see the little girl with a really, really big ice cream and her dad is happy he gets a chance to see his little girl happy again.

What we did the first week and what I want to achieve this period.

The first week of this period we learned about all the ins and outs of plagiarism. We learned when something is a creation of your own and when something is plagiarism or not. We also learned from the teacher how you can get copyright of something and what the difference is between copyright and when you have a patent on something. You automatically get the copyright on your work when you created it, but only when you have created something original. Let's say that I've made fan-art of one of my favorite games, then I have created it, but it's based on something the original designer made, so I don't officially have the rights for it.

What I want to learn this period of English is how to work better in groups and with planning things. I'm not really font of the whole making a blog concept and would rather just make Studiemeter, but will just roll with it. The fact that we have to make a commercial appeals to me in some kind of way though.
